Leeds See Off Southampton 3-0
Leeds United broke into the top ten of the English Premier League (EPL) rankings after gaining a 3-0 victory over Southampton on Tuesday, 23 February.
Clashing at Elland Road, both clubs ended off the first half with 0-0. Come the second half, however, Leeds opened up a one-point lead after forward Patrick Bamford scored in the 46th minute.
Team-mate Stuart Dallas added to the tally in the 78th minute by taking a pass from Helder Costa and scoring from the edge of the goalbox. Six minutes later, Raphinha sealed the victory with a free-kick into the right-hand post.
Leeds coach, Marcelo Bielsa, praised his players, especially Raphinha: “Raphinha is very necessary because he can unbalance teams by himself. Our game is based on combinations, and to have a player who can combine and create in individual actions is very important.”
The club are now sitting at 10th place on the EPL ranking with 35 points.
